Transformers For Hippies.

I have a week to turn this…

into this…

for 3 days of car-camping while volunteering at Solarfest.

I think the Civvy can be turned into a rather suitable vanagon for one 5’3” petite girl. I’m custom-making screen inserts and curtains for the back windows so I can roll them down and not let bugs in at night, and am designing a little wooden table to go over the center console/”living room” area. Also included is the ressurection of the ridiculously extravigant bedding I perfected in the Saab during my high school stints car camping, now featuring a cooler, area rug, camp chairs, battery-powered lantern, toilet paper, and some sort of tapestry/bedsheet upright changing area.

You can bet there will be photographic evidence of this journey and the extreme, herculean efforts that are going to be taken in cleaning Mistah J up and getting him all ready to be vanagon-ed.

…I am STOKED.

VW Van Cars Wish List Camping Awesome Westy Syncro These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

The tiniest vanagon rides again! Set the Civvy up to spend the night in it again tonight, and leaving it all kitted up so that I can take it up to Burlington like that for the 10 days I’ll be there. In case Lisa and I decide we want to do a day-long hike and overnight in it at the ending point. So, I don’t have a mini-fridge in it— just a cooler. I don’t have a working sink or stove-top burners, either. I can’t stand up in it…but it hotboxes like a CHAMP, fits me perfectly and is comfy to sleep in, and is my favorite place to turn on the lantern, blast some Zeppelin, light some incense, and stare at the artwork on the ceiling. (Fun fact: In museum gift shops, I buy the postcards of the famous or favorite pieces of art I saw there. I tacked those postcards to the Civic’s ceiling all throughout the interior, and the affect it created is affectionately known as the “Civstine Chapel.”) I PROMISE this time I’ll take photos and post them so you guys can see! XOXO

I inadvertently ended up hiking over 8 miles of the Long Trail yesterday around and past White Rocks. I was so sore at the end of it that my aching legs kept me up all night because I couldn’t get comfortable. However, it was worth it. XOXO P.S— Peep the tiny VW vanagon I scored at the British Invasion car show! I’m using it like one of those…what do you call them? A “flat [whatever]”, or rubber chicken gimmick (I’m not describing this phenomenon well), but it’s when you take a photo of yourself with a certain object wherever it goes with you so that the person it’s intended for can see where all it’s been. Anyway. So yeah. I got the little VDubb to do that for Twig. Because I can sometimes be cute like that.
