I wake up when you roll over in the morning, and for the next five minutes, I lay in bed, perfectly still, and listen to the sounds you make. I look at the stubble on your cheeks. I notice you’re drooling a little on my fitted sheet, a small dark circle spreading out on the cream-and-navy polka dot pattern. 

I decide it’s charming.

You wake up when I leave to use the bathroom, and when I come back and crawl into bed, roll over to wrap your arms around my waist, kissing the small of my back and burrowing into my skin with your face. 

We start talking about breakfast.

Post V-Day Apocalyptica

I had the best Valentine’s Day last night. I went over to another girl friend’s apartment; got loaded on cheap champagne; smoked ourselves silly; ate an entire bag of Dove chocolates and enough fun-size M&M packets to feed an entire third grade class; sent scandalous photos of myself to the boy for V-Day fun and for the sake of “doing something” together on International Couple’s Day; watched a guy send the wrong naked photos of another girl to my friend; nearly sent said wrong naked girl photos to a random person and cemented a place for the both of us in the hottest, deepest ring of Hell with poolside seats near the lava; traded neurosis; and watched the Fleet Week episode of SATC, because there’s nothing better than a man in his dress whites uniform, mmm, mmm, GOOD.

It has been abnormally hard to wake up and get moving today. I played…and now I’m paying. Hope your night was just as eventful, and your morning just as painful.
