What’s In A Name?

“You know my name. Not my story.”

—12 year-old girls on Facebook

This is the first time I have ever seen this, and yet my instantaneous gut-reflex was a solid “Yep” and I had to reblog.

You know, a lot of cultures believe that knowing someone’s true name is one of the most powerful influences you can have over a person. That if you know their name, you know who they really are. I wholeheartedly subscribe to this notion.

Twenty-two years old, and I detest musicals, yet love opulent operas like this version of “Anna Bolena” that was performed at the Met this past fall. One of the things I miss most about living in Italy was the fact that operas and ballets were always viable options; CULTURE is something that is decidedly lacking here, and as much as I may be a football-and-beer girl, my SOUL needs something breathtaking and graceful with a wrought-iron skeleton like the taxing grand operas and ballets sometimes. They are just breath-taking and awe-inspiring.

Geography Issues.

The one problem with living so close to Canada is that when you see handsome, well-dressed Canadian men roaming around in V-necks and perfect hair with just the right amount of product, you always have to ask yourself,

"Are they gay, or just Quebecois?"
